Chargers @ Raiders, 8:20 p.m | TV: Fox
Tonight the Chargers take their 4-9 record into the city of lights when they face off against the 7-6 Raiders. As of this writing the spread was Raiders -3.5, I would have liked a larger spread but I guess the pros know better than I. The over under for the game is 51.5.
The Chargers seem to be gaining some confidence in their young rookie quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert is currently in the running to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Statistically, Herbert is currently touting a 66.3 completion %, 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and 94.7 passer rating. The Chargers are also in the top ten for total yards, however they also give up a lot of yards.
The Raiders on the other hand are fighting for a playoff spot and have a decent quarterback in Derek Carr. 64.5 completion %, 24 touchdowns vs 7 interceptions and a 92 rating. The problem with the Raiders in my opinion is not the offense but the defense as they are ranked 30 out 32 in points allowed. To many, that is why many believe the Chargers will cover the spread. Also, the Raiders are missing a few key players tonight.
As for me, I also believe the Chargers will beat the spread and I will take the over.
