Chicago Bears @ New York Giants 12/02/2018

The Bears 8-3 went to MetLife Stadium to visit the New York Giants 3-8. The Bears start quarterback Chase Daniel for the second week in a row as M. Trubisky sits out due to injury.

The second play of the game started off with a TD. Not by the Bears but by the New York Giants’ defense as Olgetree returned Chase Daniel’s pass for a short interception return. XP Good. Bears 0 Giants 7

The Bears first two possessions of the game didn’t go well as they allowed the interception for a pick 6 and then had to punt.

After giving the Giants a heavy dose of the run game C. Daniel hits A. Shaheen for a short TD pass. XP Good.

As the Giants looked to move the ball Eli Manning threw an interception, picked off by Kyle Fuller who was covering O. Beckham.

Daniel threw another Interception as Ogletree picked him off again with just over 13:00 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

The Bears topped of a long drive with a TD run using A. Hicks for a 1 yard TD, taking a page out of the 85 Bears William Perry TD. XP Good. Bears 14 Giants 7

Without S. Barkley the NY Giants used their tight ends for a couple big plays to move into FG range. The Bears defense refused to give up points as K. Mack sacked E. Manning for a loss that took the Giants out of FG range. The Giants then had to punt the ball away. This kept the Giants lead to one TD. On the punt the Giants special teams unit was able to pin the Bears inside their own 2 yard line. The Bears then needed to go 98 yards to tie the game up.

The first play of the drive ended with a Gabriel catch fumble. The Bears at that point were -2 in TO/takeaways.

The Bears had no choice but to attempt the onside kick. The Bears recovered the onside kick and breathed new life into the Chicago Bears. The offense gave a great effort with less than a minute left in the game. The ball ended up on the 1 yard line with :03 left to play. The Bears used a little trickery as T. The Giants received the ball in OT and began their drive, using S. Barkley to get close to field goal range. The Bears defense was able to hold the Giants to a 44 yard field goal. Bears 27 Giants 30

The Bears did everything they could to lose the game on their final drive, committing three fumbles that they recovered but put themselves in negative yardage situations.
